A Great Race
A great race - the
first race of the winter series was held
on the Sunday 16 March. I enjoyed it.
Despite an earlier forecast of 30knot
winds the Race started 11:30 with a nice
steady 8 knots Southeast. It was a good
start for all, but in particular the
start boat crew who managed to ensure
the signal sounded just before they
crossed the line.
The first part of the
race went really well with a steady 8
knots of breeze. Later on however the
wind started to falter and the tide had
a significant impact.
After a very pleasant
day out on the water and we finished the
race at 15:30 in failing winds.
Results are:
1. Safilo
2. Achernaries (start
boat)
3. Blue Bird
So there it is - the
crew from Safilo believe
they have fastest H28. There is of
course an opportunity to set the records
straight – the committee is planning
extra Winter Series races in May. If you’re
interested in fun social racing then
give me a call (Richard 537 9464). I’ll
let you know what’s happening and if
you’re able to sail on the day we’ll
help you join in.
