Sunday
13 was the final race of the "Riddoch
Cup Series" of three races. It was
a sunny day, but there was only about
6-7 knots of wind . NW. After adding the
points the winners’ for the Riddoch
Cup were Basil Brush and Shalom
equal with 7 points each. Both
of these yachts were racing for the
first time this year Glen Currie with
‘Basil Brush" brought his H28
late last year in a very neglected
state. Glen has tidied up the
"Brush" and learned to sail at
the same time. A very popular win.
Dave
Bradshaw, who owned Mr Chips previously
before it was stolen and wrecked on
Nelson’s Boulder Bank by a 15 year old
sent to Nelson for rehabilitation,
bought Shalom and in a bit of a rush
with the Bamfield Hodgkinson team
managed to enter for the last two races
with some good spinnaker work.
Four
Winds’ first race resulted in a win
for them plus points. I have for several
years tried to get them involved and it
was just great to see them out on Sunday
and they showed some great spinnaker
work with their blue background and
stars and stripes spinnaker.
