TOPIC: H28's in Nelson

H28's in Nelson 5 years 3 months ago #8

Attention all Nelson H28 owners

I have been talking to the owner of Diomedes and he has done a fair bit of work trying to get the H28's in Nelson togeather, He is the guy that dropped the flyers on your boat.

So far the talk has been about Wensday night sailing With the Tasman Bay Crusing club, Looks like we may almost have enough boats for the club to give the H28's their own start.
Talk has also been about the occasional weekend race and probably some weekends away.

Anyone who is interested in being a part of this please chime in.

Also I hope to use this thread to keep people updated and If there is an event of any type you want to suggest, go right ahead.

Well it seem's that the H28's of Nelson are getting of to slow start to the season.
I've managed four Wenesday night races this season, Diomedes has managed one and the other regulars haven't showen their faces on the start line yet.

One event that keep's to keep coming up as a fun thing to do would be a Saturday "race" form the inner harbour, around the Cardinal mark and meeting up on Haulashore Island for a social meeting, Nothing to fancy just meeting up, using your boats and having a bit of fun.

Anyone who may be interested, just post and we will meet up and sort something out.

Hi there Magic
Great to see you trying to get things going there in sunny Nelson. Keep soldiering on, if you can get a few people involved it tends to attract more. I am the only H28 racing at our yacht club so know how it feels.

Hi Floating Dutchman ,

Sorry wasn't there last week .As the weather was good ,shot away down to Croisselles for a couple of days.It was great. As we spoke after the race i had heated towel rails all around the boat the rigging got warm and the battery discharged somewhat.Turns out i had the switch for the windlass on the negative side and the current went through the brushes and armature up through the drum out anchor to stem head fitting and all the rigging however not enough to trip a 70 amp breaker but very happy to get it sorted .Will see you on Wednesday.Diomedes

Fidei is all ready for the summer. I will try to do Wednesday race when work/family allows, Im not registered, but more keen on social sail and follow up and try to stay out of the way.

Very good on you Duchman trying to get all together. maybe we should try to get all mobile numbers together and when weather is looking good for weekend, we can send out a group txt message... as many ppl forget to check website.

see you soon

Stamp, Doimedes started this, I'm just carrying it on, We have active sailing boats here, this is all about getting the owners together for the fun of it.

Doimedes, sad yesterday, you missed some good sailing, Next week.

Fidei, Yes, I am collecting cell phone numbers. If you want to get hold of another owner that I have the number for get hold of me and I'll get hold of them for you, If you want a txt message sent to all owners that I have the number for I'll do that to.
I won't pass on phone numbers for people who haven't given permission.

Anyways, Yesterday, good day for a Wednesday night beer can race, Shabby Tiger's crew showed up, Cool I got an H 28 to sail against. Pity I had no crew myself due to last minet reasons. Shabby tiger Kindly lent me crew so I could go racing in a true sportmanship fashion. And just to be a little more sporting they fouled me and had to do turns (even more sporting, and better than going to the "room") and let us beat them.
Pity I forgot my camera, It's not often I get the chance to photograph the front of that boat.
